Med students follow law students down the road of oversupply

It seems like just yesterday that the world realized that there are way too many lawyers for the amount of legal work that needs to be done. Now Sarah Kliff at the Washington Post brings us a scary graph that shows a rapidly expanding oversupply of doctors. Once they get out of med school, they all need to do something called a “residency” which is just an extended amount indenture. Alas, the number of residencies are limited by the amount the Federal Government will support and the med schools are overproducing. If people are beating down your door to heal the sick, would you tell them, “No?”

Oh, that college industrial complex. Those scamps!

  1. You don’t think the AMA was lobbying against the expansion of intern programs?

We do need more doctors. If you don’t believe me. Just try getting sick and finding one.
