In Hollywood movies, a prostitute never chooses prostitution per se but is forced into it by either a family’s illness like cancer or a need to pay tuition. It is a testament to our society’s belief in the college industrial complex that paying for college is more or less equal to saving a family member’s life, at least as an excuse for going into a life of crime.
Maria Lamagna at the Miami Herald plumbs the depths of trashy topics by reporting on a web site that matches “sugar daddies” up with “sugar babies” who need help with tuition. But it’s just for companionship, you understand.
See, the college industrial complex is nurturing a conversation between generations. How nice.
