Henry Adams is a pseudonym and in this episode from the Chronicle of Higher Edumacation he describes how he did such a crappy job as a TA in charge of a section of Freshman Comp. The job title had the word “assistant” in it and so he assumed that he would be helping out and learning the ropes. They put him in charge and he did a terrible job. But that’s what you get from a big, fancy school filled with professors that want to concentrate on their research and grad students that want to grow up to be like them. Think twice about giving these places your money.
