Lawyers wanted– please don’t pay attention to the salary below minimum wage

Staci Zaretsky posts a copy of an ad for a new lawyer on Above The Law. You get your own case load and clients right from the get-go! The masters of disclosure don’t mince words when they say that the starting lawyer should expect to make $10,000 the first year. But hey, if you’re in Income-Based Repayment, your monthly payments go down too so it’s all good, right? You get a lower monthly payment on your education bills and you get to keep that good debt a bit longer.

This sets a new floor for the returns on a very expensive education.

I don’t think so. Isn’t the floor zero, i.e. unemployed and unemployable, because no employer in his right mind wants a lawyer around to cause trouble and stir up the proles?
