Cal State gives itself a transparency award for fibbing

CalWatchDog discovered that CalState gave itself a transparency award that doesn’t exist.

Why? A bit of backstory first. Did you think that the Cal State president only made $325k/year, just because the university said so. Oh, it’s so cute to see someone who still believes.  After a bit of prodding, the Cal State revealed that the president in Los Angeles actually pulled in $515k during 2009-2010. Ooops.

So maybe a transparency award will paper this sin of omission? One appeared on the university website, at least according to the screen shots from CalWatchDog.

As of now, the award has disappeared from the web site and we’re back to the normal state of non-transparency.

  1. Not to be confused with wrongly claiming a real award, they just made one up… I like it!

  2. I wonder if the accreditor will notice: Integrity in all matters is the backbone of peer-review accreditation, and WASC can be more strict because it is so tiny.

I wonder if the accreditor will notice.
