“Maybe they didn’t join the right frats?”

That’s just one of the explanations from the Onion on why the salaries for new college graduates are dropping.

  1. Unemployment rates for ages 25-34 are also high: 1.8 million are out of work, an increase of 11% from 2007.

    The number of Americans aged 25-34 now living with their parents has jumped from 4.7 million in 2007 to 5.9 million. That’s a 26% increase, and a total of 14.2% of that group are living at home.

    Susan Sarandon even has a new film out, “Jeff, Who is Living at Home,” one of six scripts she chose from.

    According to the WSJ, some parents “are even considering buying a new house to accomodate their returning adult children.” Lennar Homes in Miami is pitching multigenerational “homes within a home” designed to accomodate both (adult) children and aging parents. KB Home and PulteGroup are also marketing homes geared to multiple generations.
